County Executive Isiah Leggett is seeking applicants to fill seven vacancies on the Western Montgomery County Citizens Advisory Board, for two business and five resident representatives. The two business incumbents and three resident incumbents are eligible to apply for reappointment.
The 19-member Board represents the residential and business communities of Bethesda, Cabin John, Chevy Chase, Friendship Heights, Garrett Park, Glen Echo, North Bethesda, Potomac and Rockville. The Board advises the Director of the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, the County Executive, and the County Council on community needs and priorities such as transportation, human services, environmental, public safety, and other issues of local importance.
Members serve three-year terms without compensation, but are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for meetings attended. Board meetings are held the third Monday of the month, and begin at 7:00 PM. Committee meetings may be held in the morning or evening depending on the issues to be discussed. Members are expected to contribute approximately six hours each month, and to attend both board and committee meetings.
Applicants of diverse backgrounds, professions, gender, geography, disability and ethnicity are encouraged to apply. An application, consisting of a brief cover letter and resume, should be sent by mail to County Executive Isiah Leggett, 101 Monroe Street, 2nd Floor, Rockville, MD 20850, or by email to email@example.com. Home and employment addresses, as well as contact phone numbers and email addresses should be included. If appropriate, applicants should indicate the position for which they are applying.
The deadline for application is April 3, 2013. Vacancy announcements for boards, committees, and commissions are available through the following link.
Members of County boards, committees and commissions may not serve on more than one such group at a time. Members of these boards are eligible for reimbursement for travel and dependent care for meetings attended. Leggett’s appointments are subject to confirmation by the County Council. Applications of individuals selected for appointment are made public as part of the confirmation process.
