Annual Goodwill dinner for the needy

Wednesday night was the 25th annual goodwill dinner for our neediest neighbors including those homeless and low-income seniors and families. County officials and community members served a holiday feast to more than 450 guests at the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rescue Squad. There also were gifts for the guests, including: toys and hats and mittens for children; fresh fruit and cookies; ice cream; and opportunities for pictures with Santa - all courtesy of local businesses.

The annual dinner tradition was launched by the Hyatt Regency Bethesda along with the Greater Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce and the BCC Regional Services Center after a homeless person was found frozen one winter near the back door to the hotel. The event was way to highlight poverty and need in our part of the County.

The event is now sponsored by several community companies and organizations:  Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chamber of Commerce, Hyatt Regency Bethesda, Bethesda Urban Partnership, Bethesda Cares, Bethesda-Chevy Chase Regional Services Center, Five Star Premier Residences of Chevy Chase, NIH-NOAA Recreation and Welfare Association, Montgomery County 2nd District police, Bethesda Volunteer Fire Department, and the B-CC Rescue Squad.  Many other individuals dedicated their time to make the event a success.
